Home at last...

No food in the house. Junk piled everywhere! Kids wanting to set up the pool, and laundry mountains that I can't climb. I have recovered the dogs from the pound for the second time since vacation started, and Dozer is in here yelping like crazy. Oh boy!!! I need a couple of weeks to recover from this "vacation"!

Events of Thursday June 5th

The Keys family has survived another school year. For Andrew, it is his next to last year. He spent his afternoon after finals over at the recruiter station finishing up his paperwork for his enlistment. He came home yesterday afternoon to get the last required signatures from me since he is still 17. He missed one place when she was going over the paperwork with me, so of course I wound up with a picture of my baby signing away the next few years of his life after he finishes high school...

This took place after a very emotional elementary school graduation. Chris has been very lucky to be with just a great group of kids since he began school at Creekside in first grade. Most of these kids will be attending the same middle school with him in the fall. A couple of them will be separated until they get to high school. I will miss being with those kids. It has been alot of fun and they are just an extremely good group of kids. We have been so lucky with him, at least up to this point. I just hope that they can keep the kind of love that they really seem to have for each other over the remaining 7 years that these kids have had for the last 6.

9 days until the Disney trip of 08 as I am sure that it will be referred to for the rest of our lives. I am looking forward to getting myself to a place where I can live in fantasy for a bit and forget about all of the transitions that are going on in our lives!

The weather according to Lucie

I came downstairs to see Lucie watching the news with her dad. She is big into having to watch the weather here lately because she has a deep fear of "tomatoes". Since it is particualarly cloudy and windy today, she was feeling the need to see it. So I hear her tell him as I am walking away... "See, what did I tell you? See cwoudy! Cwoudy, cwoudy, cwoudy!!! That's all it's going to be today!"

Ben Joke

What did the soda say to the float?
May I have a sip of you?

What's a one legged bird called?
A unibird.

What do you call a square in an octagon?
A squoctagon.

What does ketchup say to french (or freedom) fries?
Will you dip in me?

He's on a role today!

I have days that I feel like this.

I just wish that I could do the same thing. How nice to just crash out like that anywhere you want to.

ONE WAY TO BUILD A TOWER!!!

Ben has been working hard on a tower. There is one way to build a tower, straight up, one block on top of the next. You can't have a tapering tower, or anything that would make it more stable, just straight up! I am amazed that he can consistantly stack 23 blocks one on top of another. I just need to remember this later tonight when the girls have knots all over their heads from the crashing that happens every time....

YIPPEE!!!

I just enrolled Ben in a new school for the fall. I am so excited! I just happenned upon a charter school that is just 1 mile away from my house. It is K-12, so if this works, he will never have to go to another school until college. There are going to be a total of 9 children in his classroom with a teacher and an aide. I am so excited and hopeful. He seems really optimistic about it. His only downside is that he is going to have to cut his hair. He was really wanting to grow it out and donate to locks of love in his memory of Cali. I just told him that he could do it later, and that I was sure that Cali would much rather him find a happy place to go to school.
There is also a karate class that has just opened here in town for just AS and HFA kiddos. WE are going to check that out on Friday to see how it goes. Another one of my friends has taken her son there, and she just gushed about how great it was on her first visit. I am really anxious to get there and try it out. Maybe things are looking up for him for this next year coming up, I sure hope so!
